The Amity Affliction’s bassist, co-vocalist and sole remaining founding member Ahren Stringer has been sent home from the band’s current US tour.
In a web post made today, The Amity Affliction announced that Stringer was “returning to Australia to address his struggle with addiction and get the support he needs”. Tim Beken of True North will play out the rest of the shows in his place.
Stringer, however, seems to be having none of it, and replied on Instragram with “I was booted from the tour with no warning whatsoever I did absolutely nothing wrong but I wish you guys the best in the future [sic]”. Vocalist Joel Birch, who has famously battled chronic depression throughout the band’s career, has posted about being “crushed” by the decisions but “I can’t wait to have you back but we have made the right move for our friends health”. Stringer responded with “You had me brother and now it’s gone forever. I hope it was worth it”.
For their part, The Amity Affliction has asked fans on the US leg to rally behind Stringer and bring signs showing support for him at shows.
TAA is booked to tour Australia in November with Ice Nine Kills and We Came as Romans for the 10th anniversart of Let the Ocean Take Me.
