The news keeps coming from the King Parrot camp, with the announcement on Monday of the departure of long-time drummer Todd Hansen. Hansen, it would seem, has finally succumbed to the tyranny of distance involved in being a Brisbane-based musician in a Melbourne-based band.
The official announcement from the band reads: “It’s with a heavy heart that we announce King Parrot and long-time drummer Todd Hansen are amicably parting ways. The distance between Todd in Brisbane and the rest of the band in Melbourne has posed many challenges. None more than the ability to regularly create music in the jam room together.
We want to thank Todd for his time and commitment to the band for over a decade on countless tours, rehearsals and recording sessions. Todd will always be a brother to us, and we’re grateful for the experiences we’ve shared together.
We will be announcing our new drummer in the not too distant future, and we are looking forward to seeing you all on our upcoming Australian and North American tours.”
Hansen has been the band’s drummer since 2014.
In other news from King Parrot, the latest single from their new album has been released. Look Away, I’m Hideous features an animated clip from The Art of Fox with direction from guitarist Squiz.
