Recently reactivated groove metal monsters Mortality have announced the sad news that former guitarist Craig Figl has died.
The band announced his death on their socials late on 23 July. No further details were revealed about his passing. Craig Figl joined Mortality in 1994 and appeared on the band’s one and only album, Structure.
Mainstays of Sydney’s underground metal scene in the mid-90s, Mortality reformed earlier this year around original members, bassist Luke Ford and singer Darren Maloney, along with former Daysend guitarists Aaron Bilbija and Jason Turnbull and ex-Bane of Isildur drummer Dave Pietersz. Their return show at Sydney’s Darling Nikki’s on 3 August will now also be a tribute show to their bandmate.
