In 1974, Chris Bailey and Ed Kuepper of The Saints wrote I’m Stranded. When it was finally released in 1976 it was immediately panned in Australia while praised as single of the week three times in the UK’s most influential music magazine, Sounds.
2024 marks the 50th anniversary of that watershed moment, and 50 years of live performances by Kuepper. In celebration, a special deluxe box set of the band’s 1977 debut album (I’m) Stranded will be released in November. The set includes 4 LPs – a remastered version of the album, a 5-song live performance from April 1997 in Sydney, a full live recording from London in November 1977 plus the This Perfect Day 12″ single and the 1-2-3-4 double single from 1977. Preorders are available now for this very special release.
To further commemorate, original members Kuepper and Ivor Hay are reuniting to tour with Mick Harvey of the Bad Seeds, Mark Arm from Mudhoney and the Sunnyboys’ Peter Oxley to play tracks from The Saints’ first three albums. Tickets go on sale at midday on 14 June.
