Australia has always had a very proud heritage when it comes to punk rock, and The Strike-Outs are another band keeping the flag flying with an album that ticks all the boxes.
Keeping it real as a duo of just drums and guitar, The Strike-Outs open their album with Overflown and a gnarly riff that could have come straight from the Stooges before swerving straight into the Off!-like hardcore of Gettin’ it Out. Then it’s the snarly snot-rock of 37 Moves, Cutting Corners’ slower chug and the straight-up explosive Hexed.
In all, The Strike-Outs barrel through 12 blazing tracks that play out like a punk rock guide book, a solid series of searing punk sermons that’s over and done in less than a half hour. Want fast and angry? Give Ratfuck a go. Want a catchy riff and something you can yell at people? Gotta Jet’s your tune. Hate Elon Musk? There’s a song here for you. Really, whatever punk energy you’re feeling, The Strike-Outs have it covered in ragged glory. Take a swing. You won’t be sorry.
